We can do hard things.
I didn’t completely believe this saying a few days ago when I flew home to Hawaii with an almost 2 year old, by myself. Three flights, hours of layover, and one stressed out mama. You see, our flights to Utah didn’t go very well. And knowing that I would have to repeat the same stressful day to return home had me on edge. I didn’t know if I could handle such a hard task, but there was no avoiding it. All I could do was pray and hope for the best.
And I was proved wrong. We can do hard things.
Sophie and I were blessed with nice, helpful airline workers and passengers. People helping me with my suitcase and switching seats so that Sophie could have an extra chair to play on. The acts of kindness went on all day. So much so that I cried, not because I was stressed but because I was overwhelmed with niceness.
My new favorite quote…. “We Can Do Hard Things“
No matter what the task, it can be done!

You were truly blessed on Wednesday. I am thankful for all those nice people. I can do hard things, too, at least that is what I tell myself as well. Mom

Aww that’s sweet. It’s nice to hear stories like that and see that there are plenty of nice people in the world. I would be terrified to fly with my child. Hell, I’m still scared to take her out to eat at even a fast food restaurant. Baby steps, I guess.
Kendra says
yes, baby steps! :) my little girl isn’t good at restaurants either! when I eat out I normally order my food to go! lol!

That is so nice that people were so helpful. Back in April we flew with both kids and since they were under 2 they were considered lap children and we didn’t have to buy tickets. They had a hard time sitting still and I felt so overwhelmed and worried they were disturbing other people. After the flight numerous people came up to me to tell me how great my kids did and how we seemed to handle it so well. I couldn’t believe it because I felt like it went horrible. It really put a smile on my face, though.

I can imagine how it is to travel with a toddler in the airplane… I had to turn down a “work-paid” trip to Australia this year because I didn’t want to have to deal with my little girl in the airplane for more than 15 hours! But it is so nice that you had people helping you!! It is always great when someone is willing to switch seats so you can have a better accommodation!

Does this quote come from the Wheelrights-BYU President? My mom has quoted this phrase since her mission with them as the Mission President, and where you live in Hawaii, it made me very curious if you had heard the same story I have been hearing for the past 7 years.
