This year I had the chance to attend SNAP! Conference. I was so beyond excited that I finally got to attend this blogging conference! I have been a blog contributor for the SNAP blog for several years now but before this year hadn’t ever been able to attend the conference due to living in Hawaii (2012) having a baby (2013) and moving back from Hawaii (2014 – missed it by 2 weeks).
So FINALLY in 2015 I was able to attend and it was AWESOME!!! There is absolutely no way I can talk about everything I learned, all the awesome sponsors and swag, food, decorations, or all the networking that happened. I am I just going to recap a couple of my favorite things …
The class “Give Yourself A Raise” taught by Bjork and Lindsay from Pinch of Yum
Bjork and Lindsay know their stuff. If you haven’t seen them before you need to check our their monthly income reports where they share their income, stats, and ideas and thoughts about blog income.
Honestly I didn’t learn a ton of new information from this class. However, I was reminded that the more you work the more you make. You are your own boss. And it’s not necessarily the more hours you work, it’s about how smart you work.
The reason I say I didn’t learn a lot of new material is because …
- I have been blogging for 7+ years and been exposed to a lot in the blogging world.
- I have (almost obsessively) read all Bjork and Lindsay’s Income Reports.
- I have been a member of Food Blogger Pro (affiliate link) which is a membership site Bjork created. Last year I watched almost all the video tutorials on the site and learned a lot from them. I am not a food blogger (obviously) but I learned a lot from the lessons in regards to SEO, Google Analytics, and Ad Networks. My opinion is that the value of Food Blogger Pro for non-food bloggers is still amazing. Worth the investment!
Really, my favorite part of this class was just getting to meet Bjork and Lindsay. I really look up to them and enjoy their blog!
Why You Can’t And Shouldn’t Ignore Facebook
Holly Homer and Tauni taught this class and it was a little mind blowing. Holly runs the facebook page Quirky Momma which has 1.3 million fans. She told us they post 26 times a day!!! Holy moly! She never mentioned a specific number but I can only imagine how much money they make from posting affiliate links!
Tauni also shared her facebook knowledge and talked about how she did an experiment with facebook and made $8k in amazon affiliate sales. Wow!
Takeaway: DO NOT ignore facebook. Post a lot and frequently. Pay attention to the Facebook Insights to see what facebook “likes” and doesn’t like. When you find have a post that has a high reach or interaction, post more just like it!
Hands On Learning To Crochet
I took one of the hands on classes and learned to crochet! It was a fun to take a break from the business blogging classes and do a creative project!
Overall Takeaway: SNAP! is amazing!
