This is one of those posts that I am writing right now… If I put it on my “post ideas” list , it might never get done or with the same thoughts that are currently flying around in my head.
I love blogging. I love the friendship, the creativity and the inspiration. I love creating blog designs and graphics! I love it all!
But sometimes I get so caught up and busy [a good thing!] in doing design work and creating blogs for other people I forget to leave time to write quality posts here on my own blog! I don’t leave myself enough time to write a post with good content and that is truly reflects me my branding. I feel like I am always scrambling trying to get something written for the next day.
So here it is… I am re-dedicating myself to writing good quality blog posts. Because that is what this blog is all about… learning about blogging and design, a platform to share my blog design work, and to give you a little peak into my daily life!
To help myself have time for blogging I have re-organized my “computer time and working” schedule. I have set aside more time to blog, and to read other blogs.
In redoing my schedule I also decided that I need to make it a priority to have computer/internet free weekends. I think it is super important to take a break and step away from blogging and the internet. At least for me. After stepping away from the computer for the weekends I get to monday morning excited, refreshed, with a clear head and ready to tackle another week!
By taking a break I am a better blogger and business owner. It helps keep me motivated and avoid blogger burnout! That being said, I am still running a business so I can’t remove myself completely, I will still check my email occasionally [on my itouch] but won’t be spending time on the computer. My weekends will be dedicated to playing with that cute little 1.5 year old [pictured above] and husband!
This new schedule seems to be working for me and my family. And that’s what’s important, making blogging work for you!
My New *official* Business Hours:
Monday – Thursday: 9-3 am and 8-10 pm
Friday: 9-3 am
Saturday & Sunday: Beach, Church, Playing and Island exploring with Miss S and B.
[obviously I am NOT at my computer at all those times listed above. I am a mother first, blogger & business owner second. I work in computer time around my daughters naps, playing etc. But those are the times I will be most available to answer questions.]
Do you have a specific schedule or time you blog?
Patty says
I really don’t. I have been trying to have one… But the reality is that i love to spend time with my family, and sometimes the only time i have to be in the computer is when my little girl goes to sleep.
I love to blog, be in touch with my friends and share my craft projects with other people, but it is really time consuming. So i just do it when i have time. I just read this article http://www.littlemissmomma.com/2011/08/my-aha-moment-finding-balance.html from little miss momma and i realized it is not only me who is trying to find time for myself. But in the end, i think schedule can helps us to find that balance sometimes. :)

Great post Kendra! I think tech free weekends can be great! I wish I had more of them! I sometimes feel pressure to have good, original blog content. So if I dedicate an hour or two a week, I can write several blog posts at once and schedule them accordingly! I love that! And then as I think of bloggy ideas, I can save the drafted posts.
